regarding h4 to h1 b

Hi,
I have a bachelors degree in engg (comp.sci) and came to US on H4 visa. For some reasons, I couldnt work for 5 years,but now planning to work and file for my H1 this year and my husband is on 8th year extension of his H1. I would like to know if there will be any problem for my H1 filing and how long will they give my visa.

H1 and H4 counts combined to ttoal 6 yrs counting.
