Query regarding the granted 6 months visa

Hi,

My mom got the visitor visa for 6 months. In the interview they told my mom that "we have granted 6 months visa for u". we havent received the passport yet. So donot know exactly that for how much duration they have granted visa.

Anyone got the visitor visa for 6 months ?? Does it mean that my mom got visa only for 6 months ?? and is it becoz we applied her passport in tatkaal scheme...and the passport will expire in one year...she was granted 6 months visa..??

getting 6 months visa or even less is common and nothing unusual.
You are right It can be due to the passport short validity.
Just to let you know, the visa may be 6 months the actual stay limit in US would be decided by the I94 date , at the time of arrival in USA.
