I have got an appointment for my MIL's visa at mumbai consulate in Jan end 2006.
When we filled the Forms DS-156, we put her occupation as Home Maker.
Later we realized that she also has LIC agency on her name and she get commision as the compensation.
Can LIC agent qualify as an occupation?
This is a very important in her case as she is a widow.
Can I update the DS-156 online now without touching my appointment date.
Your response will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Rashu,

Yes you can make modifications to the online forms.
This does not affect the appointment date at all.

I had given my date of birth and email ID wrong , so anyway i went and modified the form. No issues,

I think mentioning that she is a LIC agent would be agood point to prove that she has strong ties to India and that she will definitely return back.

My MIL `s visa got rejected in Oct since she is a widow and younger son is in the US.
So basically next time we need to prove that she has ties which will make her return to india.

Of course this is purely personal opinion.

I am just wondering that chaning the Home Maker to insurance agent now, could be a negative if they are storing the history of changes made to DS 156 form on their system?
