Hi, Happy new year to everyone.
My father-in-law applied of visitor visa for first time on Sep 05 and it was rejected. My mother-in-law already had 10 years visa. I applied for her 3 years back.

I mentioned in the letter to consulate that my father and mother in-laws are visiting USA for tourism purpose and I will show them various tourist places like New York, Washington DC, Niagara Falls and Florida.

Reason for rejecting the visa was "Your son-in-law gets $5K per month and for showing those tourist places mentioned in the letter, it will cost your son-in-law about $5K, and he can't bare those expenses".
I showed my bank balance for $18K. Consulate looked into the documents that we submitted for about 15 mins... i think he saw my bank balance letter also.
My father-in-law is government employee.

1. How should I prepare a letter to consulate this time? Does any one have sample format?

2. In DS 156 form for my father-in-law, we mentioned that my mother-in-law is also traveling with my father-in-law. Since she already had 10 years visa, is it better to remove her name in DS 156 form?

Please let me know your suggestions... Thank you! .. RK

u can check the success stories thread where u can find some examples
note that u shld never copy the request letters straight from path2usa.com - these must be modified according to ur present location, duration / time of visit etc.

Incase you plan to take off your mil's name from DS 156 be prepared to answer why your fil is travelling alone. Thats a general question they ask when ONLY one of the parent is travelling.
