Hi
I was on L1 visa in US. My L1 was expiring in Jan 2006(31-jan-2006) along with my I-94.
My company filed for L1 to H1 COS in May 2005 but I left for India on a vacation at that time. On returning we found that my H1 was approved but COS from L1 to H1 was denied.
So I had to leave for India to get the H1 stamping as my L1 was set to expire.
I got an appointment in Kolkota on Dec 22nd using the emergency appointments for returning US workers.
I attended the Visa Interview along with my wife (H4) and got the visa.
No questions were asked.
They took the finger prints and said
"Your Visas have been approved. You will receive them shortly. Enjoy your stay in the United States."
That is it.
Also they have put the cancelled stamp on my existing L1 which was valid until 31-JAN-2006. I guess the reason for not questioning me is the presence of
2 B1 visa stamps and 2 L1 Visa stamps in the passport.
